FAQs

Do you sell prints or merchandise?

Yes! You can find giclée prints available through my INPRNT page and more merch on Threadless.

What type of files do you provide?

I draw digitally and am able to provide high resolution rasters as JPEGs, PNGs, TIFFs, and PDFs. If you need a layered PSD file I can provide that with advance notice. I am also able to design Illustrator-compatible (AI) vector files depending on the project with advance notice.

What is your turnaround time?

This all depends on the project, but typically anywhere between 2-6 weeks gives me enough time to work new projects in with my freelance schedule. If your project is working within a specific timeframe please let me know. If you are working with a rush deadline, I can often accommodate, but will need to know details as soon as possible. Rushes will be subject to additional costs (agreed upon before the start of the project).

How do I request freelance work or a commission?

Head on over to my contact page or email me at hello@sophiemctear.com! Please provide as many details about your project as possible, including but not limited to: scale of project, timeline needed, reference photos, personal or business information, reference photos, and any relevant budget needs.

Can I repost your art?

You can always reshare my art on your Instagram stories using the “airplane” button! If you are interested in reposting my art to your feed make sure you 1. tag me in the post and in the first line of the description, 2. do not edit, crop, or put a filter on my art, 3. use only my correct pronouns (they/them), 4. do not use my art as an advertisement for your brand without proper compensation. Read through my licensing information for more on this!

How do you determine pricing?

Price is determined by scope and scale of the project, turnaround time, intricacy and detail. Most projects will require an initial 50% deposit, with the final 50% paid upon completion. This helps me to have security within the project, and helps to ensure you that I will complete the project. If you are working with a specific budget, feel free to let me know.

What software do you use to draw and design?

I draw primarily in Procreate using a first generation iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I also use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and sometimes InDesign.

How does licensing work?

Many of my illustrations are available for licensing for advertisement, publication, and more. If you are interested in licensing a piece from my portfolio, please send me an email with details about intended use, your company, and any other pertinent information. Do not use any of my pre-existing work without permission and/or compensation to respect my craft, living, and those who have come to me for paid work.

Can I get a tattoo of your art?

Yes! I work as a tattoo artist full time at Sublime Tattoo, an all-femme tattoo shop in southwest Tucson, Arizona! You can book with me here.
